The Assistant Guide reports directly to the Campus Director and is mentored and overseen by one or more Lead Guides. The Assistant Guide provides close supervision to children, cares for the prepared environment, and actively participates in and supports the creation of a strong school community. This position is an hourly non-exempt role and every Assistant Guide is responsible for accurately reporting all hours worked using the Guidepost Montessori time and attendance system.

• Maintain a meticulously clean and orderly prepared environment
• Perform prep-work to ensure classroom environment is ready for students on a daily basis
• Provide close supervision to children, always making sure they are safe and the group is in compliance with state‑mandated teacher to child ratios
• Interact with children in a warm, joyful, respectful manner that fosters their independence
• Observe children and share your observations with Lead Guides
• Redirect children as necessary to protect Guides’ presentation time and peers’ concentration, and to maintain a peaceful and productive learning environment
• Implement feedback provided by Lead Guides, your Campus Director, and your regional Montessori Mentor

• Ensure interactions with parents about routine issues or anecdotes from the child’s day are positive and upbeat
• Ensure any information about significant student issues or parent concerns are communicated to the Lead Guide, so that (s) he can communicate directly with parents
• Problem‑solve challenging student issues with Lead Guides
• Participate in regular staff meetings
• Participate in one‑on‑one meetings with supervisor
• Participate in community outreach, classroom celebrations, and parent education events
• Actively participate and pursue annual professional development

• Experience working with children of the appropriate age group
• Passion for or desire to learn the Montessori method of education
• Ability to work well with other adults
• Growth mindset and problem‑solving approach
• Ability to embrace and exemplify Guidepost Montessori “Core Values”
