The Field Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all on-site activities for construction and facility service projects. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with customer requirements and company quality standards. The Field Superintendent serves as the primary field representative, coordinating employees, subcontractors, materials, equipment, inspections, and project schedules while maintaining strong relationships with customers and project stakeholders.
ProjectCoordination & Oversight
- Communicate effectively with Project Managers, customers, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure a complete understanding of project scope, expectations, and timelines.
- Coordinate and supervise all phases of assigned projects from mobilization through completion.
- Ensure work is performed according to project specifications, company standards, and customer requirements.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address issues that may impact schedule, quality, or budget.
- Recognize and communicate conditions or issues outside the project scope and work with customers and management to resolve them appropriately.
- Understand and comply with all job site protocols specific to each customer and project location.
- Provide detailed daily and weekly project reports to the Project Manager.
- Facilitate the purchasing and delivery of materials necessary to maintain project schedules.
- May assist with site surveys, project estimates, and project planning activities.
- Supervise Ameritech field personnel, including Lead Technicians, Technicians, Helpers, and other assigned staff.
- Schedule crews and resources to meet project deadlines and customer expectations.
- Ensure team members understand and adhere to company policies, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Evaluate crew performance and provide feedback to the Project Manager.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment among employees, subcontractors, customers, and vendors.
- Address workplace conflicts professionally and promptly to maintain team effectiveness and project continuity.
- Meet with customers, store personnel, and other stakeholders to review project requirements and progress.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers, suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Represent the company with professionalism, diplomacy, and excellent customer service at all times.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and customer safety requirements.
- Identify, address, and document job site hazards immediately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure workmanship meets project standards.
- Promote safe work practices and ensure all team members are physically prepared and adequately rested to perform assigned work safely.
- Maintain professionalism and composure in challenging or rapidly changing situations.
- Exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills when addressing project-related issues.
- Perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong knowledge and experience in general contracting and construction management.
- Working knowledge of multiple construction trades.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and project documents.
- Proficiency with hand tools and construction equipment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other Windows-based applications.
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of construction industry experience.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a construction environment.
- Knowledge of construction safety practices and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Reliable transportation to travel to customer and project locations.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel approximately 80% to 100% of the time.
