Traveling Superintendent HVAC Commercial Construction

Summary of Position

The Field Superintendent will provide on‑site coordination for all phases of a construction project, including supervising employees, coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring specifications are strictly followed, and ensuring work proceeds on schedule and within budget. The Field Superintendent shall be responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control and job site safety.

• Effective communication with Project Manager, customers and crews to ensure complete understanding of the scope of projects.
• Supervise Ameritech employees as required (Lead Tech, Tech, Helpers, etc.).
• Coordinate subcontractors as needed and ensure they are fully executing and complying with the scope of work.
• Meet with customers and store personnel to review projects.
• Recognize problems outside of scope and effectively address them with the customer.
• Understand jobsite protocols specific to project and site.
• Provide detailed written daily and weekly reports to Project Manager.
• Ensure all materials needed are on site on time to maintain schedule.
• Schedule crews to meet customer timelines.
• Ensure each team member is aware of quality standards and company policies and maintain quality of workmanship.
• Create and maintain positive relationships with employees, customers, suppliers/vendors and subcontractors.
• Ensure that all workers on the site work in harmony and attempt to keep conflict at bay.
• Intervene during conflicts between members and exercise tact to ward it off.
• Report crew performance to Project Manager.
• Maintain composure when faced with adverse situations and rapidly changing environments.
• Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy and sensitivity to portray the Company in a positive manner.
• Read plans.
• Understand commercial building and health codes.
• Understand all phases and general construction aspects.
• “Out of Ground” construction is not necessary; tenant improvement (TI) new construction is acceptable (building out a restaurant into an existing space such as a strip mall, Walmart, or an existing old building).
• Travel 100% of projects with planned time off at home (3 weeks on, 1 week off or similar).
• Work nights and weekends; some jobs will be day, some night, some both. Must be willing to do either/all or switch back and forth per project.
• Provide a project list when responding to this ad, indicating project involvement and capacity performed on each project.
• Ensure self and crew obtain adequate rest to effectively and safely complete assigned projects.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Identify and rectify job hazards on an immediate basis.
• Facilitate purchasing of needed materials.
• May perform surveys and estimate jobs.
• Perform duties with minimal supervision.

• Knowledge and experience in General Contracting.
• General knowledge of all trades.
• Demonstrated ability to use hand tools.
• Professional demeanor, selling style, and appearance.
• Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers.
• Possess proven problem‑solving solutions for the customer and the company.
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently to meet or exceed goals.

• Knowledge of construction safety and safety procedures.

• Supervisory experience.
• Five (5+) years of construction experience.
• Must be able to pass a drug test.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Must have a valid and active driver’s license.
• Access to reliable transportation to reach customer locations.
• Dependable and able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
• Ability to travel 90% of time.

• Move about the work site, working around people and equipment.
• Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder or stairs.
• Operate tools or equipment.
• Position self to install or remove equipment, including maneuvering in small spaces; required to sit, talk and hear.
• Occasionally lift and/or move equipment or materials up to 50 pounds; use hands to type, handle, or feel objects, tools and computer controls.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
• Frequently communicate with customers and co‑workers while performing job tasks.
