Position: Data Center Technician Night Role

Overview

Join our dynamic AWS team and become a critical guardian of global cloud infrastructure. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining the heartbeat of the world’s most innovative technology platform and ensuring seamless data center operations that power millions of businesses and services worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix, and physical repair of various components.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability.
  • Carry out routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to improve overall service availability.
  • Serve as the primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Participate in on‑call duties and scheduled maintenance and change‑management activities.
  • Contribute to documentation and process‑improvement initiatives based on the analysis of operational issues.
  • Help interview, train, and onboard new team members.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and move material up to 40 pounds.
  • Work in cramped and/or elevated locations.
  • Bend, lift, stretch, and reach as needed.
  • Stand and walk for up to eight or more hours a day.
  • Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely without limitation.
  • Work in an industrial environment.
  • Work shifts longer than eight hours to support 24/7 operations, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Travel may be required to data center locations in various operational stages.
Essential Requirements
  • Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
  • Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.
  • A day in the life includes ownership of technical issues, strong troubleshooting aptitude, propelling proactive issue detection, self‑directed action, and continuous improvement through process innovation.
Day in the Life

Our Data Center Technicians own the technical resolution of customer‑facing issues, engage cross‑functional teams, solve problems at the root, maintain service level agreements, and innovate processes. They work shifts that include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Basic Qualifications
  • 2+ years of computer/server hardware troubleshooting experience, or related IT experience.
  • 2+ years of computer layer 1/2 networking experience, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT‑related field (e.g., Computer Science, Network Engineering) or equivalent professional or military IT experience.
  • Experience in a data center or other critical environment.
  • Experience training and onboarding new team members.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is USD 30.00 – 54.00 hourly. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined by experience, qualifications, and location.
