Role Description

The Second Pressman is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Mansfield, TX, supporting the safe and efficient operation of sheet‑fed printing presses. This role assists the Lead Press Operator in setting up, running, and maintaining presses for folding carton production, including plate changes, ink adjustments, and color matching. Responsibilities include monitoring print quality, performing routine inspections, and making adjustments to meet job specifications and company standards.

The Second Pressman will help stage and load materials, maintain clean and organized press areas, and support basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. This position also collaborates with pre‑press, quality, and finishing teams to ensure accurate, on‑time production and consistent product quality.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience with printing processes and printing presses in a manufacturing or packaging environment.
  • Knowledge of print design, color standards, and the ability to work with detailed print specifications.
  • Experience with pre‑press workflows, including plates, make‑ready, and press setup.
  • Strong quality control skills, including visual inspection, color consistency checks, and adherence to documented standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret job tickets, production schedules, and basic technical documentation.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to assist in troubleshooting minor press issues and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Commitment to safety practices and ability to work on your feet, lift materials, and handle repetitive tasks in a production setting.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and time‑management skills; reliability in an on‑site manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in folding carton, packaging, or commercial printing is preferred.
