Position Summary

Operate silicone extruders and monitor for proper product quality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Review schedule for production requirements and plan job duties accordingly.
  • Mill silicone per specification and prep hose for extrusion.
  • Set up extruder for vertical, horizontal extruded wrap and horizontal manual wrap according to manufacturing specifications.
  • Cut and send test samples to lab for product quality control.
  • Measure actual OD of base hose, review maximum/minimum OD for silicone covered hose and review wall thickness requirement.
  • Record all necessary data for traceability and conformance to specifications.
  • Provide hose coiling with reeled products for inspection.
  • Maintain work area clean and orderly, follow 5S practices.
  • Know and practice all safety regulations and quality guidelines.
  • Report production issues to Direct Lead.
  • Perform work of an equal or lower classification.

  • Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities, and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
  • Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.
  • Participate in peer-based teams and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5‑S.

  • QUALIFICATIONS Education

    High School diploma or GED.

    Experience

    One (1) year experience in manufacturing facility preferred.

    • Lift/C: up to 10 lbs (X), 11–20 lbs (X), 21–30 lbs (X).
    • Bending (X), Twist/Turn (X), Reach Below Knee (X), Push/Pull (X), Squat/Kneel (X), Stand/Walk (X), Sit (X), Lifting Above Shoulders (X).

    Organizational Relationships / Scope
    • Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader.
    • Work closely with Maintenance to resolve equipment issues.
    Working Conditions
  • High noise levels from operating machines and equipment.
  • Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels.
  • Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection).
  • Standing is required for extended periods. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting performed regularly.
  • Requires high degree of manual dexterity under restrictive conditions.
  • Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
