PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
The Quality Manager has significant organizational impact responsible for establishing, leading and maintaining compliance in regard to Quality Management Compliance with a Food Safety focus. This role is responsible for developing strategic initiatives, programs and best practices that drive the organization towards excellence in these areas while upholding SCT's Mission, Vision & Values. This role is responsible for driving proactive behaviors that develop a Continuous Improvement Culture and lead a robust Quality Management System that cost effectively exceeds customer expectations.
This position collaborates extensively with the Production Team to influence change, increase engagement and align resources while leading and directing a team of Quality Technicians. The Production Manager serves as the dedicated back up position to the Quality Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Influence and drive a quality focused culture enthusiastically engaged in upholding and maintaining audit readiness at all times while maintaining an AA BRCGS rating
- Develop and deploy adequate internal specifications to meet or exceed customer requirements
- Develop and maintain robust internal audit system while influencing organizational adherence to SCT's Quality Management System and compliance with all GMP and food safety certification guidelines; develop and oversee quality audits specific to each machine center
- Actively participate in activities to remain current and informed on certification changes, additions and industry best practices while effectively communicating to all stakeholders
- Develop and communicate performance metrics in a method & manner that becomes actionable and accountable
- Review and analyze quality non-conformances to drive corrective and preventive action
- Prepare and lead monthly quality meetings and quarterly management reviews
- Partner with plant leadership to effectively communicate customer complaints and coach and counsel plant team members to drive improvements
- Ensure effective and timely communication takes place with customers and vendors and engage them in developing and communicating corrective action
- Facilitate and manage supplier, subcontractor, and customer audits
- Develop and train quality team, equipping them with relevant resources and knowledge of best practices
- Plan, promote and organize organizational-wide training activities related to product quality and reliability while establishing internal "Quality Champions" that will influence and impact quality improvements
- Serve as a resource to all manufacturing locations to ensure quality standards are being supported and sustained
- Overall responsibility for compliance with guidelines established by Local, State & Federal mandates or programs, such as IOS
9001, SFI and BRC Certification guidelines, as it relates to Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices
EXPERIENCE /
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor Degree in related field (Production Operations, Business, Engineering) is preferred; directly related experience considered in lieu of degree
- 5 + years of experience in a Quality Control / QA focused role within a manufacturing environment; experience within the folding carton industry, packaging or print production is highly preferred
- Demonstrated working knowledge and direct experience with GMP and food safety and quality certifications (BRC, SQF, AIB, etc)
- Ability to lead and drive quality activities across three shifts in a 24-hour production facility
- Highly relational with the ability to lead and influence others toward change across the organization
- Excellent presentation and training skills
AUTHORITY:
Must have the ability to lead people to execute the demands of production departments efficiently and to respond to oral instructions from his/her supervisor and other written instructions
LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide both fractions and decimals, solve equations, read a tape measure, and have an understanding of both standard and metric measuring…
