Job Details
The store manager leads Mattress Firm's vision, company initiatives, and achieves sales performance goals by holding associates accountable for the execution of in‑store merchandising across multiple store units. The manager also leads selling programs and drives related KPI results, supports the omni‑channel experience, and ensures teams put the customer at the center. As an effective coach, the manager develops associates’ skills and performance, fostering a collaborative and motivated team dedicated to achieving success.
NewHire Onboarding and Team Building
Conduct one‑on‑one meetings to understand team motivations and personal/professional aspirations. Develop a comprehensive team “bio book” that grows alongside the team, evolving with new insights. Hold 30‑60‑90‑day check‑ins with new members to discuss progress and opportunities.
Workforce ManagementExecute workforce management activities such as store staffing schedules and reconciling punches, utilizing Operations team support and tools. Ensure all company policies, appearance and functionality standards, and state regulations are followed. Communicate professionally and represent the company brand in all interactions. Follow procedures for product transfers to ensure proper inventory documentation. Plan strategically. Analyze reporting to determine appropriate staffing levels and partner with leadership to adjust staffing.
TalentDevelopment
Provide technical and product knowledge to associates and customers, serving as subject matter expert. Analyze reporting to identify skill gaps and address them through coaching.
Business Operations and Acumen- Achieve or exceed individual store financial targets through effective execution and customer service.
- Ensure store execution of product merchandising, marketing, and POP standards.
- Partner with marketing to plan, implement, and monitor the store’s social media strategy to positively impact brand awareness and increase sales.
- Ensure timely opening and closing procedures.
- Manage stock inventory levels for the assigned store.
- Review merchandise flow for accuracy.
- Follow all company procedures on cash handling, including acceptance of payment and deposit processes.
- Adhere to all sales processing policies to ensure proper customer invoicing.
- Ability to stand or sit for 8+ hours at a time.
- Execute company initiatives and other activities requested by the supervisor.
- Maintain awareness of competition; develop strategies to counter.
- Conduct store‑level inventory process and investigate any discrepancies; partner with leadership and corporate partners as needed.

Competitive pay range of $84,000 – $105,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
