Starting Salary Ranges:

Water Utilities Inspector $53,532 - $63,721 ($25.74 - $30.64/Hourly)

Senior Water Utilities Inspector $61,970 - $73,765 ($29.79 - $35.46/Hourly)

Utility Inspector is the inspector of new water and sewer connections on new construction.

EXAMPLES OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED:
  • Inspect water and sewer service at rough.
  • Inspect water and sewer service at final.
  • Respond to customer complaints and retain detailed records.
  • Assist on grease trap reports and inspection on waste haulers and record keeping.
  • Maintain a high standard of safety, conduct, and job performance.

Water Utilities Inspector: REQUIRED

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge and experience required to inspect and report on grease traps.
  • Ability to use a personal computer including email, word processing and preparing spreadsheets.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive records.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND

EXPERIENCE:
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience.
  • State Certification Wastewater Collection II.
  • State Certification Water Distribution

    C.
  • Customer Service Inspector Certification.
  • Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester.
  • Licensed Irrigation Inspector.
  • Possession of 3 of the 5 licenses listed above.
Senior Water Utilities Inspector: REQUIRED

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge and experience required to inspect and report on grease traps.
  • Ability to use a personal computer including email, word processing and preparing spreadsheets.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive records.
  • Ability to perform as lead on standby when required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND

EXPERIENCE:
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience.
  • State Certification Wastewater Collection II.
  • State Certification Water Distribution

    C.
  • Customer Service Inspector Certification.
  • Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester.
  • Licensed Irrigation Inspector.
  • At least 2+ years of leadership experience.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Using proper safety precautions, ability to work in trenches and confined spaces; indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb, crawl, kneel, squat, twist, and stoop for extended periods of time while performing normal duties.
  • Using proper safety precautions lift 80 pounds, and pull, push or drag 120 pounds of installation and repair equipment or materials.
  • Climbing. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
  • Balancing. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
  • Stooping. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching. Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Crawling. Moving about hands and knees or hands and feet.
  • Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Feeling. Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
