What your day looks like
Start your shift by reviewing the electronic maintenance queue in our CMMS (EMaint preferred). You prioritize preventive tasks - checking drives, motors, and belts; verifying fluid levels; swapping filters; and cleaning and lubricating machinery to keep everything running smoothly. A numerically controlled machine throws an alarm, and you team up with Engineering to diagnose it. You break down the issue across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, estimate the labor hours, source or fabricate the part, complete the repair, test the machine, and return it to service with minimal downtime.
Later, you might oversee a contractor on a facility repair, run conduit for a capital equipment installation, or repair utilities, plumbing, HVAC, or shop electrical. You wrap up by conducting safety inspections, updating maintenance records, tidying your work area to 6S standards, and issuing a concise project status report.
