Position Summary
Manteno Middle School is seeking applicants for an Athletic Director for the school year. The Middle School Athletic Director works in collaboration with the Director of Athletics and Activities to provide leadership, organization, and oversight of the middle school athletic and activities programs. This position is responsible for coordinating athletic events, supporting coaches, ensuring compliance with school and conference policies, promoting sportsmanship, and fostering the academic, social, and emotional development of student-athletes.
Qualifications/Requirements- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License preferred.
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in School Administration.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of middle school athletics, rules, and regulations.
- Knowledge of middle school activities, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to effectively work with coaches, sponsors, students, parents, and school personnel.
- Experience in coaching, athletic administration, or educational leadership preferred.
- Ability to manage schedules, event logistics, and athletic operations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Attend and supervise athletic events and activities to provide administrative support.
- Commitment to promoting sportsmanship, student achievement, and positive school culture.
- Work collaboratively with the District Athletic Director to support and oversee middle school athletic programs and activities.
- Manage daily middle school athletics and activities operations.
- Coordinate middle school athletic and activities schedules, including contests, practices, transportation, event supervision, and facility usage.
- Serves as a liaison between coaches, students, parents, administration, and athletic organizations to ensure a positive and successful athletic experience.
- Serve as a point of contact for middle school athletic communication with students, parents, families, coaches, officials, and conference representatives.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding, and supervision of middle school coaches.
- Assist with coaches' meetings and communicate athletic expectations, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with IESA, conference, district, and school policies and regulations.
- Coordinate game management responsibilities for middle school home athletic contests.
- Schedule and confirm officials for athletic contests as assigned.
- Maintain accurate athletic records, schedules, rosters, and program documentation.
- Assist with monitoring athletic budgets and coordinating the purchase of equipment and supplies.
- Coordinate transportation arrangements for athletic events.
- Monitor athletic facilities and equipment to ensure safe and effective use.
- Verify student eligibility requirements and required participation documentation.
- Promote sportsmanship, citizenship, and positive conduct among student-athletes, coaches, and spectators.
- Recognize and celebrate student-athlete and team accomplishments.
- Communicate athletic and activities schedules, updates, cancellations, and program information through appropriate channels.
- Address concerns and issues related to the middle school athletic and activities programs in a timely and professional manner.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, coaches, administrators, and support staff to support student success.
- Support consistent implementation of District policies and procedures and collaborate on Districtwide planning and initiatives.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality of student, family, and staff information.
- Support students' academic, social, and emotional growth through participation in athletics.
- Uphold school policies, procedures, and educational standards.
- Act as designee for the Director of Athletics and Activities when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Activities or Administration.
- $8,436.48 for the school year.
