Position Summary
Manteno School District is seeking applications for the position of High School Bilingual/ESL Teacher. The position provides ESL and Bilingual support to EL students in grades 9-12. ESL services will be provided through co-teaching experiences with the general education teachers. Bilingual services will be provided through a combination of co-teaching and direct instruction.
Qualifications/Requirements- Illinois Professional Educator License
- ESL Endorsement REQUIRED
- Bilingual Endorsement preferred
- Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness in meeting the diverse academic, linguistic, and social-emotional needs of students
- Possesses knowledge and understanding of best practices for supporting English Language Learners (ELLs)
- Demonstrates the ability to differentiate instruction and implement effective, research-based instructional strategies to support student learning
- Exhibits strong organizational and time-management skills
- Communicates effectively in both English and Spanish with students, families, colleagues, and other stakeholders
- Provide direct instructional support to English Learner (EL) students in grades 9–12 through the planning and delivery of engaging, standards-aligned instruction
- Deliver bilingual instruction and support in Spanish to students in grades 9–12
- Monitor and assess student progress on an ongoing basis to evaluate growth and identify areas of need
- Assist in the development and implementation of curriculum, instructional programs, and interventions designed to support English language acquisition
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement instructional strategies and interventions that support EL students in the general education setting
- Administer state-required English language proficiency assessments, including ACCESS and EL screening assessments
- Establish and maintain effective communication with parents and families regarding student progress, program participation, and educational needs
- Maintain accurate student records, data, and required program documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines
- Prepare and share student progress reports with families, staff, and other stakeholders
- Participate in quarterly student review and program evaluation meetings
- Foster a positive learning environment by maintaining high expectations for all students
- Provide coaching, consultation, and professional support to staff to strengthen instructional practices for English Learners
- Collaborate with the Student-Based Assistance Team and other support personnel to make data-informed decisions regarding student needs and services
- Actively participate in grade-level, department, and professional learning team meetings
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality of student, family, and staff information
- Work collaboratively with co-workers and school staff
- Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral growth
- Uphold school policies, procedures, and educational standards
- Perform other duties as assigned by Administration
- Salary and benefits will be based on the negotiated MEA Contract
- Extracurricular positions may be available
