Maintenance Technician

This role focuses on performing both preventative and reactive maintenance on a wide range of production machinery in a food manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Technician works with mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring equipment runs safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime while supporting a growing operation that is adding new machinery.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all production machinery to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Respond quickly to reactive maintenance needs by diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment.
  • Work on a variety of equipment, including sauce applicators, topping applicators, packaging machinery, presses, box erectors, compressors, pumps, motors, mixers, and ovens.
  • Conduct mechanical repairs such as replacing worn parts, aligning components, and ensuring proper operation of moving parts.
  • Perform electrical repairs on machinery, including working with systems up to 480V, to restore safe and reliable operation.
  • Troubleshoot and work with PLC-controlled equipment to identify and resolve control and automation issues.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to guide maintenance and repair activities.
  • Use MIG and TIG welding techniques when needed to repair or fabricate components and supports.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance personnel, machine operators, and production staff to coordinate work and minimize impact on production schedules.
  • Follow safety procedures and good manufacturing practices while working on the production floor.
  • Maintain and use personal tools and equipment effectively to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Document maintenance activities as required to support ongoing reliability and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3 years of experience as a maintenance technician or mechanic in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience performing both mechanical and electrical maintenance on production machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints accurately.
  • Experience working with electrical systems up to 480V.
  • Familiarity with PLC-based equipment and the ability to troubleshoot control-related issues.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience working on equipment such as applicators, packaging machinery, presses, box erectors, compressors, pumps, motors, mixers, and ovens.
  • Capability to perform both preventative and reactive maintenance tasks independently.
  • Ownership and regular use of personal tools suitable for industrial maintenance work.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose issues under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Commitment to working safely and following established procedures in a production environment.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in food manufacturing maintenance, including troubleshooting and supporting production lines.
  • Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) experience in a production facility.
  • MIG and TIG welding experience for repair and light fabrication tasks.
  • Comfort working closely with other maintenance personnel, machine operators, and production staff.
  • Ability to adapt to new machinery and technologies as the facility expands.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate work and share information across shifts and teams.

This position is based on the production floor in a food manufacturing facility, working closely with other maintenance personnel, machine operators, and general laborers. You will regularly work around running equipment, including sauce and topping applicators, packaging machinery, presses, box erectors, compressors, pumps, motors, mixers, and ovens.
