Urban Farmer is seeking a skilled Quality Assurance Supervisor who will oversee the quality assurance activities within the plant, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards such as HACCP, GMP, and ISO. This role is instrumental in maintaining product safety, integrity, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:Quality Assurance Leadership:
- Direct all quality assurance activities for the plant, including sanitation, work-in-process (WIP) and finished product analysis, package integrity testing, HACCP/GMP compliance, and process control.
- Conduct and manage plant audits focusing on GMPs, sanitation, and other regulatory compliances, coordinating improvement activities with management.
- Oversee and supervise HACCP plans and records, reviewing documentation daily to ensure compliance with critical control points (CCPs) and quality control points (QCPs).
- Review daily in-process values to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
- Provide a daily production quality report to the management team.
- Supervise the Hold & Release program, ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures.
- Responsible for conducting mock recall exercises to verify the effectiveness of the product recall strategy.
- Immediately report all food safety and quality issues to Plant and QA management.
- Investigate, report, and formulate corrective action plans concerning Plant and QA management issues.
- Manage the QC lab inventory and oversee the submission of samples to third‑party laboratories for external quality analysis.
- Conduct routine and non‑routine analyses of in‑process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, finished goods, and stability samples.
- Experience with environmental monitoring.
- Provide GMP, HACCP, Food Defense, and Food Safety training for QC technicians, contractors, and temporary staff.
- Manage and oversee records for all the prerequisite programs to ensure comprehensive training and adherence to quality standards.
- Assist technicians in resolving complex Quality Assurance issues, promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
- Participate in cross‑functional teams to integrate quality assurance considerations into broader operational decisions
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field and experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role within quality assurance in the food manufacturing industry, preferably in pizza production.
- In-depth knowledge of FDA, USDA, and other relevant food safety regulations.
- PCQI and HACCP certification
- Proven leadership abilities and effective team management skills.
- Standing and Walking: Frequent standing and walking throughout the production facility to monitor processes, conduct inspections, and supervise team activities.
- Manual Dexterity: Regular use of hands for collecting samples, performing tests, and documenting findings. This may include handling small components of testing kits and using computer systems for data entry.
- Lifting Requirements: Occasionally lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds, such as boxes of samples or equipment necessary for quality testing and audits.
- Visual and Auditory Demands: High level of visual acuity required for inspecting product quality and safety, reading reports, and entering data. The role also requires listening to team feedback and detecting any unusual sounds from equipment or production that may indicate quality issues.
- Climbing and Balancing: Occasionally climbing stairs or ladders to access different parts of the plant for audits and inspections.
- Environmental Conditions: Must be able to work in various conditions including heat, humidity, and cold typical of a food production environment. Exposure to food allergens and cleaning chemicals is common.
This position works in an office and a manufacturing environment with variable temperature and loud noises from machinery and equipment alarms. The incumbent will be exposed to loud noises and alarms from equipment and machinery.
