Our firm is partnering with a growing manufacturing organization in Maple Grove, MN to identify a hands-on, self-motivated Senior Accountant to join their tenured accounting team. Reporting to accounting leadership, the Senior Accountant will support a broad range of accounting functions, including project accounting, month-end close, multi-state sales tax compliance, inventory and manufacturing accounting, and general financial operations. The ideal candidate enjoys variety, manages multiple priorities with confidence, and contributes meaningfully to the overall success of a close-knit team.



Job Description

In this role, the Senior Accountant will serve as a key contributor to the accounting function, taking ownership of projects from start to finish while supporting the day-to-day operations that keep the business running smoothly. The position offers exposure to a wide variety of accounting activities within a manufacturing setting, making it ideal for a professional who values breadth, hands-on involvement, and the opportunity to make a visible impact.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage accounting-related projects, including establishing processes, tracking financial activity, and ensuring accurate reporting.
  • Perform and support month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns across approximately 30 states.
  • Assist with general ledger maintenance and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Support inventory and manufacturing accounting activities, including inventory transactions, material costs, and purchase price variances.
  • Analyze financial data and identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support accounting and reporting needs.
  • Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions during vacations or other absences.
  • Assist with audits, reporting requirements, and special projects as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications



Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and month-end close processes.
  • Experience with sales and use tax reporting, including multi-state filings.
  • Exposure to manufacturing and inventory accounting environments.
  • Understanding of inventory concepts, material costing, and purchase price variances.
  • Ability to manage projects independently and drive tasks to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work onsite in Maple Grove, MN.


Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as MAX (ECi Macola), Great Plains, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working in a small or mid-sized company where employees wear multiple hats and support various accounting functions.
  • A proactive, mature approach with a willingness to take ownership and step in wherever needed.
