Role DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Drafting Lead.
The Drafting Lead is responsible for providing effective leadership and oversight of the Engineering Department. This position coordinates projects by reviewing new submissions from the Sales team and assigning drafting work to team members. The Drafting Lead also manages CAD/CAM and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) to design and produce cabinetry.
This position requires strong communication skills and frequent collaboration with team members across multiple departments and stages of a project. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, inventive, with high technical aptitude and efficient, with the ability to manage time and priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Communicate with Sales team regarding upcoming projects to resolve design issues proactively and support overall production flow.
- Review projects submitted by Sales for accuracy, completeness and to ensure procurement of special materials needed.
- Ensure PLM software is up to date to provide Sales team with accurate labor and materials cost for sub-assemblies and finished assemblies.
- Assign work to drafting team and ensure that drawings and drafts are completed accurately and within a reasonable timeframe.
- Produce drawings, specifications, and machine programs for production.
- Support the development and documentation of best practices for design and manufacturing processes.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement processes throughout the organization.
- Provide leadership for the drafting team including training, development, performance evaluations, and support in hiring decisions.
- Assist in overall operations scheduling management.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient using, managing and training on PLM/ERP software.
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Proven leadership, team building, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of computer integrated manufacturing software; includes accessing and retrieving information using the computer. Ability to edit computer aided software and their applications.
- Strong understanding of standard drafting principles and general practices in all areas of cabinetry design.
- Proficiency with industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
- Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources).
- Experience leading a team in a production-based environment.
- 5+ years’ experience with AutoCAD (Cabinet Vision Preferred).
- Prior cabinetry construction and installation experience.
- Experience designing and constructing frameless cabinetry.
- 3+ years’ experience with AutoCAD (Cabinet Vision Preferred).
- Prior cabinetry construction and installation experience preferred.
- Prolonged periods of sitting.
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to successfully complete pre-employment drug screening.
- We are committed to offering a compensation package that reflects the expertise and value you bring to our team. The rate for this position is $26.00-$31.25 per hour and will be determined based on your overall experience and qualifications.
