About Kidstop: Kidstop is a high‑quality choice‑based child care program serving Kindergarten through 5th grade across multiple elementary schools. With over 1,200 students enrolled, the program supports youth with engaging experiences that align with the district’s mission of inspiring scholars with confidence, courage, competence, community contribution, and lifelong learning.
Kidstop Locations: Basswood, Cedar Island, Edinbrook, Elm Creek, Fernbrook, Oak View, Rice Lake, Rush Creek, Weaver Lake, and Woodland Elementary Schools. Placement is determined during the interview process.
Position Summary: Join our team as a Kidstop Instructor Substitute to create an enriching, caring, safe, and equitable environment with fun choices for kids before and after school or in a four‑year‑old classroom. You will lead activities, build relationships, and support routines.
Responsibilities and tasks include:
Health and Safety
- Follow all district, program, and building health and safety procedures.
- Communicate accidents/incidents involving youth or staff verbally and in writing to Program Leaders and/or families as needed.
Supervision and Security
- Actively supervise all youth at all times.
- Accurately count and track students during transitions, activities, spaces, and field trips to ensure all children are accounted for.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of youth and families.
- Support field trips and adjust hours or locations as needed.
Communication, Teamwork, and Partnerships
- Collaborate with Program Leaders and staff to ensure youth well‑being.
- Follow up with families concerning concerns or feedback and complete necessary documentation.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting families and ensuring youth are signed in/out of the program.
- Welcome and value diversity in thought, culture, and perspective to foster an inclusive environment free of judgment.
- Perform additional site duties as assigned.
Inclusive Environment
- Assist with medical, physical, or behavioral needs as necessary.
- Operate adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, augmented communication devices, and assistive technology, ensuring proper use.
- Assist youth with self‑care tasks (feeding, dressing, toileting); lifting, moving, and transitioning may be required.
- Assist and support individuals with accommodations which may include additional support.
- Under the direction of a licensed or registered nurse, perform basic medical procedures including tube feedings, seizure recognition and precautions.
- Dedicated to creating and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all families, youth, and staff regardless of abilities, ethnicities, genders, or religious beliefs.
Quality Programming
- Facilitate and organize enriching opportunities for youth across different age groups, abilities, and identities.
- Collaborate with a team to promote youth’s social, emotional, intellectual, and physical well‑being.

- Actively engage with youth, modeling positive behavior, supervision, and leadership.

Professional Development
- Complete a background check and all required pre‑employment paperwork before the start date.
- Attend staff meetings, in‑service training, workshops, and program‑sponsored events.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Experience working with children preferred; child‑development knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to assist in implementing and leading educational/enrichment activities.
