Job DescriptionJob summary: Inspire and prepare all students to achieve their dreams by supporting the development and implementation of a community engagement pre‑school child care program that reflects the diverse interests, talents, perspectives, and learning styles of the children served, in alignment with the district’s mission.
About Four Star Express: A high‑quality, full‑day childcare program for four‑year‑olds aligned with the district’s mission, nurturing, preparing, and supporting children as they get ready for kindergarten.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement an ongoing program, gathering input from parents, staff, and children for planning.
- Greet parents and children and maintain a welcoming environment.
- Support all children in the program, participating in small‑group and large‑group activities.
- Promote effective use of time, materials, and discipline standards.
- Co‑operate with the Site Supervisor to maintain child well‑being, including individual conferences.
- Create and maintain a written plan of program activities regularly.
- Maintain a safe, functional room environment, including bulletin boards and cleaning routines.
- Assist with planning and purchasing supplies and equipment.
- Attend staff meetings, in‑service workshops, sponsor events, and parent advisory meetings.
- Keep accurate records of attendance, schedules, and other program‑related information.
- Be familiar with Four Star Express philosophy and program policies.
- Follow all district, program, and building health and safety procedures.
- Communicate accidents and incidents verbally and in writing to Program Leaders and families.
- Ensure active supervision of all students at all times.
- Actively supervise all children in the program.
- Accurately count and track students during transitions, activities, and field trips.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of children and families.
- Support field trips and adjust hours or locations as needed.
- Collaborate with instructors, program leaders, and staff to ensure well‑being and enrichment.
- Follow up with families regarding concerns and perform necessary documentation.
- Provide excellent customer service to families.
- Celebrate diversity and foster an inclusive environment.
- Assist with meal preparation, snack service, and clean‑up tasks.
- Assist individuals with accommodations and medical or behavioral needs.
- Operate adaptive equipment with proper use.
- Support children with self‑care tasks and transitions as needed.
- Facilitate and organize enriching opportunities for all groups, abilities, and identities.
- Lead or assist in small and large group activities and transitions.
- Actively model positive behavior, supervision, and leadership.
- Uphold district and program mission, philosophy, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Support implementation of schedules and routines meeting developmental needs.
- Complete background check and pre‑employment paperwork before start date.
- Attend staff meetings, in‑service training, workshops, and program‑sponsored events.
- Minimum qualifications:
at least 18 years old (21 preferred); two years of credit toward a bachelor’s degree and 2,080 hours of direct preschool/ kindergarten readiness experience; assess children’s cognitive skills at entry and exit; current First Aid and CPR training or within 90 days of employment. - Preferred qualifications:
bachelor’s degree and 1,040 hours of direct preschool/ kindergarten readiness experience; experience planning early childhood instructional content across literacy, math, science, social, music, and technology.
Hours: 8 hrs/day; 5 days/week (8:00 am‑4:30 pm)
Job Type: Full‑time, School Year
