Dean Of Students
The Dean of Students will follow the charge of their designated School Principal. This position follows a teacher calendar. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Enforce policies and procedures related to student behavior and discipline, ensuring they align with the school's mission, vision, and values.
- Under the direction of their designated School Principal(s), oversee the implementation and monitoring of a school-wide behavior management system to promote a positive and safe learning environment.
- Oversight and monitoring of detention.
- Assist administration in the supervision and facilitation of In-School Suspensions.
- Under the direction and guidance of their designated School Principal(s), handle and investigate student disciplinary issues, including incidents of bullying, harassment, and violation of school rules, working closely with staff, parents/guardians, and other relevant parties.
- Maintain accurate records of student disciplinary actions, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to legal requirements.
- Collaborate with principals and other school personnel to develop and implement individualized behavior support plans for students.
- Participate in the school's Child Find/Child Study team, 504 Plans, Behavioral Intervention, and other responses to intervention.
- Participates in parent conferences and IEP meetings as requested.
- Direct the reporting and monitoring of student attendance. Run ADHOC reports and notify designated School Principal(s) of attendance trends and truancy concerns.
- In partnership with school personnel, conduct parent conferences and meetings to discuss student behavior issues and develop strategies for improvement.
- Serve as a resource for teachers, students, and parents/guardians in providing guidance and support related to student behavior and discipline.
- Stay informed about current research, best practices, and legislation related to student behavior, discipline, and safety in educational settings.
- Organize or oversee any other work critical to the general success of the school as directed by designated School Principal(s).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Critical working relationships include the Parnassus Preparatory School administration, staff, faculty, parents/guardians, and students. The Dean of Students will represent Parnassus Preparatory School with professionalism and respect and will uphold the school's standards and philosophy. It is essential that high standards of confidentiality be maintained within the school and in the community. The Dean of Students is expected to uphold Parnassus Preparatory School Board's policies and expectations in all communications.
Qualifications/License Requirement:
Master's degree in behavioral counseling or related field with a Tier 3 or higher educator's license. Experience working with students in an educational setting, with an emphasis on behavior management.
