Location/Region: This position is located in Minneapolis, MN and will cover the Midwest territory.
RoleAs a Field Service Engineer II (FSE II), you will work with a team that supports ZEISS Surgical Microscopes service. The FSE II, with limited supervision, installs, repairs, upgrades and performs preventative maintenance on designated Carl Zeiss Meditec instrumentation in a specified field service territory. You will represent Carl Zeiss Meditec at customer locations and strive for a high level of customer satisfaction.
You are responsible for all company-issued property (inventory, tools, diagnostic equipment, vehicle, etc.) in accordance with company policies and maintain professional communication with the team, customers, management, Sales and Technical Support.
- Diagnose and repair designated products within an assigned service territory, including preventative maintenance, installations and upgrades per training, manuals and Carl Zeiss Meditec guidelines.
- Schedule, create, verify and/or modify customer visits as appropriate, assessing customer needs and potential financial impact to the practice and patients.
- Complete and submit daily field service reports according to procedures in the Field Service reference database.
- Complete and submit weekly expense reports according to Carl Zeiss Meditec policies.
- Maintain spare parts inventory according to company guidelines and return parts as designated by policy.
- Support revenue growth through promotion and retention of service agreements.
- Interface with customers in a professional, pleasant and calm demeanor.
- Other duties may include instructing customers on operation and maintenance of equipment.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains company-issued test equipment and support tools, including spare parts. Installation and maintenance of equipment at trade shows, as requested and required.
Qualifications- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in Electronics, Fine Mechanics, Optics or Medical Field Service.
- BS in Electronics, Engineering, or Computer Technology and related fields preferred.
- A+ and Net+ certifications preferred.
- Ability to think through difficult customer issues and achieve satisfactory results.
- Self-directed and able to work independently with limited oversight.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to pass required training to service fine mechanics and optics and to effectively service equipment after training.
- Multiple project and time management skills required.
- Extensive overnight travel by automobile and air.
- Must travel in the US and internationally for training, meetings, exhibit support and coverage outside assigned territory.
- Must be able to obtain sufficient credit to cover incurred business expenses reimbursed upon expense report submission and approval.
- Average of four (4) hours driving per day for service calls. Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Thirty percent of the workday spent standing or walking.

The hourly pay range for this position is $31.00 - $39.00. This position is eligible for a Performance Bonus. ZEISS also offers robust benefits including medical plans, retirement savings plan and paid time off.
