As a Metrology and Calibration Quality Engineer II at Boston Scientific’s Maple Grove site, you will ensure the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of the equipment that makes our manufacturing possible. You’ll collaborate with technicians, manufacturing partners, and quality teams to maintain a world‑class calibration system, support audits, and develop high‑quality calibration documentation that enables safe and effective product production. This role directly contributes to patient safety, operational continuity, and site readiness.

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows an onsite work model requiring employees to be in our local office five days per week.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Develop and maintain high‑quality calibration procedures, specifications, and documentation that enable technicians to perform accurate and compliant calibrations with minimal rework.
  • Support site audit readiness by preparing documentation, participating in audit tours and back‑room and front‑room activities, and ensuring calibration processes meet regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Provide technical support to calibration technicians and internal customers, ensuring clear communication of requirements, timely responses to questions, and professional customer service.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, quality, and engineering teams to define calibration requirements, address issues, and support equipment lifecycle needs.
  • Ensure compliant execution of calibration processes by maintaining strong knowledge of metrology procedures, out‑of‑tolerance handling, and documentation controls.
  • Create, own, and support quality investigations, including out‑of‑tolerance reports, nonconformance events, and CAPAs, ensuring timely documentation, clear root‑cause analysis, and effective corrective/preventive actions.
  • Use an equipment management database to create and manage equipment records, track documentation updates, and ensure accurate and timely submission of calibration‑related tasks.
  • Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on strengthening calibration documentation quality, workflow efficiency, and process reliability.
Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant technical or scientific discipline, and at least 2 years of experience in calibration, metrology, or related field OR Master’s Degree in relevant technical or scientific discipline, and at least 1 year of experience in calibration, metrology, or related field.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Metrology, or related discipline.
  • Hands‑on experience performing calibrations and using an equipment management database.
  • Experience supporting calibration workflows in a medical device or similarly regulated environment.
  • Experience preparing for or supporting audits (ISO 13485 or similar).
  • Familiarity with out‑of‑tolerance investigations, measurement uncertainty, and calibration processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and collaborate across technical and operational teams.
