Laser Technician at Maple Grove, MN
Location: Maple Grove, MN | Onsite
Pay Rate: $26/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
Contract: 6 months (possible Contract-to-Hire)
OverviewWe are seeking a Laser Technician with strong hands-on experience in laser systems, CAD, and machine-based testing to support a fast-paced process development lab environment in Maple Grove, MN. This role is ideal for a self-motivated technician who enjoys working directly on equipment, developing laser processes, and supporting engineering teams from concept through production.
What You'll Do- Support Process Development Engineers and Scientists in developing and optimizing laser-based manufacturing processes
- Operate and align laser systems (fiber, Nd:
YAG, femtosecond), including vision systems and Ophir power meters - Perform laser cutting and laser welding of materials
- Spend the majority of time working directly at machines (8-10 systems to learn)
- Conduct inspection and testing
, including Tencel testing - Create CAD designs and assist with fixture design
- Write and maintain technical reports and process documentation
- Assist with equipment integration
, optical systems, and vendor coordination - Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Production, and Equipment Engineering
- Train or mentor peers on technical processes as needed
- 2+ years of experience with an AA degree or equivalent work experience
- Hands-on experience with laser systems (required)
- CAD experience creating programs for laser systems
- Experience aligning laser systems and machine integration with optical systems
- Knowledge of C++ and G-code programming
- Inspection experience using vision systems
- U.S. work authorization required (no sponsorship available)
1st round virtual (manager), 2nd round onsite
