You will own real hardware, work closely with manufacturing and technicians, and balance performance, cost, and manufacturability every step of the way.
The work is practical, technical, and highly collaborative, with a strong focus on creating designs that are innovative, repeatable, and buildable.
- Lead mechanical design efforts from early concept through production release
- Design and validate systems, assemblies, and components using sound engineering principles
- Create detailed 3D models and production-ready drawings following proper drafting and dimensioning standards
- Perform engineering analysis including tolerance stack-ups, FEA, and DFMEA
- Partner with R&D technicians and fabricators to build and test prototypes
- Work closely with manufacturing and manufacturing engineering to support DFM and smooth product launches
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers
- Create and maintain accurate engineering documentation, project data, and Engineering Bills of Materials
- Prepare clear written reports, plans, and specifications for new and existing product lines
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles
- Research new materials, processes, and technologies to improve product performance, durability, and user experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of hands-on product design experience in recreational marine, powersports, automotive, trailer, or similar engineered products
- Experience in Recreational Marine Mechanical Design, Boat Systems Development, and full Product Lifecycle Ownership from concept through production
- Strong background in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) in recreational marine manufacturing, including production support and launch execution
- Proficiency with Solid Works, 3D CAD modeling, GD&T, FEA, and marine design validation testing
- Solid understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, manufacturing processes, and creation and maintenance of Engineering Bills of Materials
- Comfortable collaborating with manufacturing, testing, and production teams to ensure designs are buildable and repeatable
- Clear communicator who takes ownership of projects and works effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and leadership teams
- Self-directed engineer with a working knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts
