An established, employee owned engineering firm is seeking a Senior or Principal Civil Engineer to serve as Resident Engineer and Engineer of Record for a regional construction office. This role blends leadership, technical oversight, and field engagement across transportation construction projects.
About the Role
This is an opportunity for an experienced civil engineer who enjoys ownership, long term growth, and leading teams through complex infrastructure work.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Resident Engineer and Engineer of Record for transportation construction projects
- Oversee a regional construction office and direct construction staff
- Administer highway, bridge, and transportation projects to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and contract requirements
- Lead construction scheduling, staffing, and coordination with design and program delivery teams
- Support design activities and conduct construction reviews during non construction seasons
- Ensure projects meet contractual, regulatory, and quality standards
Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Civil Engineer
- 5 to 10 years of civil engineering experience with leadership responsibility
- At least three years in a senior engineer or similar role
- Experience with transportation infrastructure including highways and bridges
Required Skills
- Experience administering large bridge or highway construction contracts
- Strong knowledge of transportation standards and applicable regulations
- Background in process improvement or operational efficiency
- Strong leadership skills including scheduling, delegation, budgeting, and adaptability
- Ability to collaborate, negotiate, and build consensus across teams
