Summary
The Staff Engineer, Electrical Design develops new electrical systems and circuits for various applications, researches system ideas, and creates plans, schematics, and system specifications. The engineer tests, simulates, validates, and qualifies their systems, making adjustments as needed, and supports manufacturing throughout production.
Detailed Description- Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
- Provides technical leadership and direction to a sizable team of engineers. May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas.
- Takes responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.).
- Reviews and interprets customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contract.
- Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develops deployment strategies and plans.
- Leads the deployment of strategic complex programs and coordinates site-wide deployment efforts.
- May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.
- Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs.
E.g. creation of schematics, bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc. - Testing, simulation and measuring (including troubleshooting) the performance of systems.
- Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations.
- Solve complex problems.
- Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
- Analyze and interpret data and information.
- Recommend modifications for systems.
- Create reports, minutes and updates.
- Project Management
- Ability to manage/lead complex, multiple line engineering projects that may also involve other functions. Demonstrate solid understanding of the technical, financial and people aspects of the project. Able to create a project/change management plan and ensure that the project is delivered within the assigned time and budget. Ability to recognize project barriers and develop mitigation plans. - Leadership

- Ability to create financial plans for your projects, align them internally with your line of management and other functions and externally if needed. Create project plans, profitability calculations, risk and sensitivity analysis, able to recognize barriers and mitigate profitability risks. Design of Experiments (DOE). - Aerospace & Defense Experience – Ability to lead projects compliant with AS9100D, identify and design to MIL-STDs for various designs.
- DIGITAL/LOGIC: EE-Embedded, FPGA, DSP, Static Timing, Tolerance Analysis, EE-Digital, EE-Power Point of Load supplies, EE-Battery, Signal Integrity, Schematic Modeling, Power Integrity, ESD Controls & Standards.
- POWER: EE-Power Switching Supply, EE-Point of Load Supplies, EE-Battery, Power Integrity-Core Sim, Tolerance Analysis, EE-Analog, Schematic Modeling.
- PCB/LAYOUT:
Signal Integrity, Schematic Modeling, Cadence, Mentor Xpedition, Mentor PADS, Altium Designer, Other Layout tools, Tolerance Analysis, Power Integrity. - SCHEMATIC DESIGN/SIGNAL INTEGRITY: EE-Digital, EE-Analog, Tolerance Analysis, Static Timing, Schematic Modeling.
- ANALOG: EE-Analog, Tolerance Analysis, RF Design(20
Ghz) RF Design.
- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- 7 to 10 years of related experience;
Experience in similar job roles.
Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational Requirements may vary by Geography.
