Water Resources Senior Project Engineer / Project Manager (Maple Grove or Woodbury, MN)
Join an award‑winning civil engineering consulting firm. In this role you will work closely with other water resources staff and project managers to perform water resources analysis and design activities primarily for municipal projects in Minnesota.
Position OverviewThe Water Resources Senior Project Engineer / Project Manager will support expanding Minnesota operations, collaborate with water resources staff across AE2S geographies, assist the Water Resources Practice Leader with business development, and manage project delivery.
Responsibilities- Perform analysis and planning related to floodplain and stormwater management facilities using XP/SWMM, HydroCAD, HEC‑RAS, and other water resource engineering software.
- Provide professional services for water resources engineering projects, including planning, study, design, and construction administration.
- Review stormwater management plans submitted to municipalities.
- Lead specific tasks of large projects or manage smaller projects and oversee performance of project team members.
- Maintain existing client relationships and pursue new ones.
- Assist the Water Resources Practice Leader in identifying, evaluating, pursuing, and managing project opportunities.
- Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work.
- Assist in maintaining budgets and schedules of project assignments and in maintaining quality client relationships and communication.
- Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field with 10+ years of experience in water resources engineering.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in Minnesota or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS software.
- Knowledge of Minnesota design standards and permitting.
- Demonstrated experience interfacing with clients and successfully leading or participating in watershed master planning, drainage basin design plans, floodplain studies, and water supply planning.
- Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to work remotely and manage projects, clients, and project team members.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Ability to travel as required for project/client responsibilities and business development.
- All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screening, motor vehicle records search, etc.).
- Master’s degree in a water resource related field.
- Experience using SWMM software for urban stormwater management analysis and design.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of project financials.
- Ability to walk up to 3 miles on uneven terrain.
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight.
- May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify errors or defects.
- May require wearing PPE including flame‑resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear.
- May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload.
- May require travel to off‑site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town.
- Anticipated starting salary: $98,100‑$119,900 per year DOE.
