POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary duty of the Engineering Inside Sales Tech is to provide engineering print and documentation support to the sourcing and purchasing team from the customer prints received for the parts we are going to provide them. If necessary, in conjunction with the outside engineering sales team members coordinate reverse engineering projects with customers, OEM, and the OEM manufacturers. Work internally with the OEM functional group members to ensure our capability of providing the customers with the part(s) they are requesting and communicate any differences with all involved.
DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews customer “part to print” to ensure what they physically have matches what they have specified on their engineering documentation and/or the samples provided
- Reconciles differences and gets approval of markups and deviations in meeting with outside sales engineer and the customer
- Engages with the OEM Sourcing team to review and coordinate the customer print against the supplier's capability to provide parts to specification
- Reconciles with the supplier if requested by sourcing, the differences and deviations between the customer's design print, requirements and specifications and the manufacturing print and capabilities from the supplier.
- Assists the sourcing team to reconcile with customers and obtain approval on supplier's print
- Reviews the customer's application against the design print, requirements and specifications
- Reviews and request adjustment of the information from MIR, based on meetings and documented agreements with the customer, and according with the reconciled and approved documentation from customer and from supplier
- Actively participates in part review meetings with sourcing, purchasing and QC.
- Works jointly with AIS quality department on print readying and print reviews.
- Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose.
- Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of five years of experience in design or application engineering or technical experience with production fasteners and OEM items
- Knowledge of fasteners and bolted joint design.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality related to all duties and responsibilities, such as the proprietary information of vendors and customers.
- Strong ability to apply applications of engineering principles and practices to solve specific problems in a timely manner.
- Ability to document process flow and report improvements to the process or product.
- Understands process and product testing procedures including chemical, mechanical, and dimensional.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required.
- Ability to deal professionally with customers, internal customers and suppliers in a polite, efficient, and responsive way required.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users required.
