This position exists to implement and support the State's Recycling Market Development (RMD) program. The position requires knowledge of recycling and developing markets for recyclable materials. The position also serves as a project manager that integrates work across programs to meet agency strategic goals, especially as it relates to sustainable materials management (SMM)/solid waste policy and planning, increased recycling, and recycling market development.
Responsibilities- Assist private and public entities to develop markets for recyclable materials.
- Manage projects to plan, implement, and develop work in markets for recyclable materials and assisting businesses to use recycled feedstock under the Waste Management Act, The Toxic Pollution Prevention Act and other state and federal statutes.
- Provide program and state RMD expertise.
- Provide technical assistance with proposed projects, measure data, and report strategic program outcomes.
- Administer the Agency activities associated with the Solid Waste System in Minnesota.
Three (3) years professional experience managing projects in areas of sustainable materials management, solid waste, recycling, and/or a similar field, sufficient to track and manage multiple projects and lead and direct teams across multiple deadlines OR Bachelor's degree and two years professional experience in managing projects in areas of sustainable materials management, solid waste, recycling, and/or a similar field, sufficient to track and manage multiple projects and lead and direct teams across multiple deadlines AND Advanced writing skills sufficient to communicate (often technically complex) rules and information in a clear and concise manner.
Accomplished in using Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, and PowerPoint, and the ability to format long documents. Possess a valid Driver's license (see additional requirements). The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will not sponsor applicants for work visas including F-1 STEM OPT extensions. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
