Mental Health Technician – Griffin Memorial Hospital
We are seeking dedicated Mental Health Technicians to join our team and support individuals receiving behavioral health treatment in an inpatient setting. Under close supervision, this role plays a key part in delivering both direct and indirect care to patients in need of behavioral health support.
Position OverviewAs a Mental Health Technician, you will help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment for patients. You will assist with therapeutic activities, promote wellness, and contribute to de‑escalation efforts when needed. Your presence and behavior will serve as a positive example, providing guidance and encouragement to those in your care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Direct and Indirect Care:
Support patients individually and in groups within an inpatient behavioral health setting. - Ensure Safety and Well-Being:
Participate in de‑escalation strategies and help ensure a safe environment that meets patients’ physical and emotional needs. - Serve as a Role Model:
Demonstrate effective problem‑solving, decision‑making, communication, and coping skills. - Assist with Therapeutic
Activities:
Facilitate or support recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities that enhance emotional and mental wellness.
- 12‑hour shifts:
AM – 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM;
PM – 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM. - Hourly Rates:
LevelI – $14.10 per hour;
LevelII – $15.28 per hour. - Shift Premiums: $0.50 per hour for evenings and nights; $0.75 per hour for weekends and holidays; $1.00 per hour for any shift worked (can be combined with evening/weekend pay).

One year of behavioral health patient care experience required. Must possess a strong commitment to patient well‑being and safety and believe that recovery is possible.
- Upon a conditional offer, applicants must submit to a physical examination and meet physical requirements of occasionally lifting or carrying 50 pounds and being able to push or pull a maximum force of 25 pounds.
- Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job‑related travel normally associated with this position and have a valid driver’s license.
- Pre‑employment drug screening: applicants for safety‑sensitive positions must submit to urinalysis and a negative result is required for appointment.

24‑hour, 7‑day coverage required. Work hours and location may vary depending on business necessity. Employees may be required to work weekends and overtime.
