The Spine Team has a need for a full time (1.0
FTE) Physician Assistant to support outpatient, inpatient, perioperative care, and in surgical settings to meet increasing clinical demand and provide timely, high-quality patient care.
The Physician Assistant will provide care to patients in a family-centered model with complex acute, critical and chronic health care conditions, advises patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, and/or provide skilled assistance in navigation of the health care system as appropriate to the developmental, cultural, emotional, and medical, surgical, or rehabilitative needs of the patient and their families. Delivers comprehensive patient care which maximizes outcomes in a manner consistent with the organization’s mission, philosophies and in accordance with professional practice standards.
Under the guidance of the physician(s), the PA-C assesses, diagnoses, plans, and manages patients with acute and chronic injury or illness. Duties may include, performing procedures, ordering and interpreting lab results; prescribing medications, durable equipment and advanced therapeutic interventions, developing care plans, implementing transitions in levels of care; providing supportive research and education and fostering leadership in the advanced PA-C role.
This position will work with Gillette physicians and nurse practitioners to enhance Gillette’s current medical service delivery model.
The annual salary range for this opportunity is $113,880 to $170,830, with a median salary of $142,355. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity. Salary is just one component of the compensation package for employees. CoreResponsibilities and Duties
- Independent and collaborative management of a range of spine concerns in inpatient, outpatient, peri-operative, and surgical settings
- Management and running of an independent schedule
- Management and interpretation of spine related studies including imaging, labs, tests and procedures and prescribing of medications
- Between visit care coordination and management of acute issues
- Educate patient/family on diagnoses, management, and peri-operative topics
- Function as first or second assist in the operating room
Required:
- Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program and certified or eligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA);
- Licensure or eligible for licensure as a PA in Minnesota; certification and prescriptive authority
- Ability to drive to multiple locations
- Current CPR certification through American Heart Association, or within 90 days of hire
- Successfully pass the written generalist examination every 6 years from the initial date of certification.
Preferred:
- Two years relevant clinical experience
- Two years relevant surgical experience
- Experience with pediatric patients, spine patients, or both
