Job SummaryThe Director of Health, Safety, and Environmental will lead the Safety, Environmental, and Health Services teams, as well as manage the Workers’ Compensation program. This role is responsible for ensuring company-wide compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations related to health and safety. The Director will oversee the development and implementation of safety programs, including new initiatives, and will guide the overall strategy for health services—managing the in-house clinical operation and ensuring effective processes are in place.
Additionally, the role involves planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating care for injured or disabled employees within the Workers’ Compensation Injury Management program. Acting as a liaison, the Director will facilitate communication between third-party administrators, legal teams, healthcare providers, internal management, union representatives, and employees, and will report workers’ compensation outcomes to senior leadership.
In the area of environmental management, the Director will develop and implement strategies to minimize the company’s ecological impact. This includes overseeing waste management, monitoring air and water quality, and ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations. The role also involves conducting environmental audits and collaborating with departments across the organization to promote and integrate sustainable practices.
Responsibilities- Oversee all OSHA programs and OSHA investigations.
- Oversee all OSHA 300 logs.
- Oversee plan and progression to IOSHA VPP status.
- Lead the development and implementation of strategy for a significant area of responsibility, anticipating complex issues, challenges, and opportunities, and ensuring integration with wider corporate strategy.
- Oversee workers compensation claim files to conclusion.
- Oversee the timely reporting of new claims to our insurance carriers/TPAs to eliminate or significantly reduce the adverse costs associated with reporting lag time.
- 10 years of relevant experience in food manufacturing
- Strong background running plant safety
- Background in environmental and health
- Degree preferred
