Job Title:
Electronics Assembly Technician
Type of Position:
This position will begin as a 12-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 12 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 3 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.
Candidate Requirements:
This role supports a major defense contractor and requires candidates to be U.S. Citizens due to eligibility requirements for obtaining a Secret security clearance. An active clearance is not required to start, but candidates must be eligible to obtain one if needed. Candidates who are Permanent Residents/Green Card holders, or who require/currently hold work authorization through CPT, OPT, H-1B, TN, or other visa classifications, are not eligible for this role.
Due to the nature of the work and federal contractor requirements, offers may be contingent upon successfully completing a background check and drug screening, which may include testing for cannabis. There are no exceptions to this requirement, including for medical marijuana cardholders.

Compensation:
We are targeting $34.56/hr, but there may be some additional flexibility for well qualified candidates. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

- This role will have 10 days PTO (PTO accrues over time). In going direct hire, there will be significantly more PTO.
HRU Technical Resources is partnering with a leading defense contractor to hire an Electronics Assembly Technician. This role supports pilot production and low-volume manufacturing activities by assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and validating complex electro-mechanical and electronic products. This role requires the ability to work from engineering drawings, sketches, and work instructions while maintaining high quality standards in a production or prototype environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform assembly of complex electro-mechanical, electronic, and mechanical products and subassemblies.
- Execute repetitive and non-repetitive assembly operations on advanced electronic systems and support equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, engineering sketches, and work instructions.
- Conduct testing using electronic test equipment and document test results.
- Support pilot production, prototype builds, and new product introductions.
- Assist with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of assembly and test issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support product transitions into production.
- Maintain compliance with safety procedures, quality standards, and manufacturing requirements.
- Work additional hours, including weekends, when required to support production schedules.
Required
- Associate degree in a technical field OR minimum of 2 years of experience performing electronic or electro-mechanical assembly, test, or technician-related duties in a production or prototype environment. Must have a High School Diploma or GED at a minimum.
- Proficient in the use of electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, meters, and related instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Experience using electrical assembly tools, hand tools, and precision measurement equipment.
- Ability to perform detailed assembly and testing activities requiring fine motor skills and high precision.
- Experience using mechanical measurement and assembly tools, including micrometers and torque wrenches.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Experience troubleshooting electronic and electrical systems.
- Experience operating Cirris testing equipment and/or Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
- Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 requirements.
- Knowledge of J-STD-001 workmanship standards.
- Ability to identify assembly issues and recommend process improvements.
- Understanding of basic machining techniques.
- Familiarity with GD&T principles.
- Experience supporting prototype builds, engineering development programs, or low-volume manufacturing environments.
- This is a 1st (day) shift role on a 9/80 schedule. Typical hours are 7:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday (every other Friday off).
