About the role
As a Manufacturing Technician II, you are responsible for performing functions associated with all manufacturing operations in daily support of products, processes, materials, and equipment in order to achieve production goals (i.e., safety, quality, delivery, and cost). Daily tasks include responding to equipment downtimes and issues on the production floor, performing routine preventative maintenance on production equipment, and supporting Manufacturing Engineers (ME) in value improvement projects.
Most of your time is spent on the production floor, working on equipment, and engaging with our Medical Device Specialists (i.e., MDS operators).
With general supervision, you will work on 2nd shift as part of a technician team in the Nitinol Shape Memory (NSM) business unit. 2nd shift runs Monday‑Friday from 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Your responsibilities will include:- Observe and comply with all safety rules and regulations. This includes QSR and ISO Standards.
- Apply mechanical, electrical, control, and pneumatic knowledge to troubleshoot and solve equipment and process problems for various automated equipment.
- Identify and troubleshoot process, material, or equipment problems to minimize downtime.
- Identify and implement corrective actions for manufacturing related issues.
- Perform equipment setup and corrective, preventive, and calibration maintenance as necessary.
- Support equipment startups and shutdowns, which may include staying late to make sure equipment is in a safe state.
- Install and validate equipment and processes in the production area to improve yield and/or reduce cycle time following the established validation procedures.
- Modify existing and develop new tooling and fixtures.
- Evaluate and order necessary equipment, tools, and fixtures.
- Be responsible for quality and adhere to manufacturing process requirements, the Boston Scientific Corporation Quality Policy and the Strategic Quality Process (SQP). Proactively communicate quality issues and concerns.
- Understand and apply a solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing and related principles.
- Assist in Value Improvement (VIP) and implementing new equipment or processes or improving existing ones for cost savings.
- Train and provide technical support or direction to product builders and other technicians.
- Understand, follows and promotes all BSC and site‑specific policies and procedures.
- Remain flexible, rotate as necessary, and work well with all group members, both within the team and cross‑functionally.
- Actively participate in Shared Responsibility and continuous improvement teams.
- Be responsible for attending and passing all core required BSC and site‑specific training (i.e., QS Basics, RTK, Lean Training).
- 2 Years with high school diploma and/or equivalent experience, training, or apprenticeships.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and effective troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing or technical environment.
- Proven reliability with a strong attendance record and consistent work ethic.
- Proactive communicator and team player who seeks opportunities to improve processes and resolve issues collaboratively.
- Previous technical line support experience in high‑volume medical device manufacturing.
Minimum Salary: $43,368
Maximum Salary: $73,736
The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see – will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
Compensation for non‑exempt (hourly), non‑sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
