Machine Operator​/SMT Set-up

Summary

Setup materials for SMT machines. Follow all process documentation and diagnose defects or problems when they are presented.

• Maintain solder paste stencils.
• Replenish and control SMT components in a warehouse setting; fill process documentation accurately.
• Follow process/program documentation developed by Engineering; verify correct programs and revisions on routers and ensure correct machines are set up.
• Monitor floor stock inventory such as solder paste, monitor expiration dates, and inform Supervisor or Lead when low or expired.
• Follow preventative maintenance schedules on equipment, perform PMs and identify when further maintenance is needed.
• Work with engineers and technicians to set up NPI products for assigned machines.
• Perform X‑Ray inspection of returned materials.
• Count and stock new parts from stockroom.
• Load parts on feeders and onto carts.
• Load parts on feeders and onto magazines.
• Pull parts from smart shelves using router.
• May be required to train other employees and assist in orientation of new employees.

• Follow oral and written instructions; fluent in reading blueprints.
• Responsible for quality of work and meeting daily quantity standards.
• Keep facilities, materials, and work area clean, organized, and free of FOD; apply safety practices.
• Take prompt action to correct problems.

• Work may involve repetitive motion; primarily standing, may require sitting, twisting, and stooping.
• Job duties require working with and around chemicals.
• Regular exposure to odors and warm temperatures.
• Visual exams required pre‑hire and biennial to confirm visual acuity of 20/20 with or without glasses and passing a standard color vision exam.
• Must be able to perform job functions while using a scope.

• Related experience in set‑up, operation, and troubleshooting of surface mount technology and microscope soldering.
• Experience in programming of SMT equipment is highly desirable.
• Will be required to pass J‑STD & IPC‑610 Certification to qualify for the job duties of a Surface Mount Machine Material Setup.

High School education or equivalent.
