Job Description

This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mill machining centers equipped with Fanuc controls to produce precision components for analytical instrumentation, life sciences, aerospace, defense, medical, and electronics applications. You will work in a short-run, job shop environment, performing multiple complex set-ups each day and machining a wide variety of materials to tight tolerances.

• Set up and operate Haas, Matsuura, and Makino CNC 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mill machining centers with Fanuc controls.

• Perform precision machining on components used in analytical instrumentation, life sciences, aerospace, defense, medical, and electronics industries.

• Handle multiple complex set-ups each day in a short-run production environment, typically machining batches of fewer than 100 parts.

• Machine a diverse range of materials, including aluminum, various stainless steels, engineered plastics, titanium, molybdenum, and Hastelloy.

• Read, interpret, and work from blueprints and GD&T specifications to ensure parts meet design and quality requirements.

• Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and maintain tight tolerances.

• Select and set up appropriate tooling, work holding, and fixtures for each job to optimize machining efficiency and quality.

• Operate vertical and horizontal mills as required to complete assigned work.

• Contribute to prototype and short-run machining projects, adapting to new part designs and one-off jobs.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with ISO 9001 quality standards.

• Collaborate with team members in the machine shop to troubleshoot machining issues and improve processes.

• Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures while meeting schedule and delivery expectations.

• At least 2 recent years of experience operating and setting up CNC 3- or 4-axis vertical mills in a machine or job shop environment.

• Proficiency in setting up and operating Haas, Matsuura, or Makino CNC mill machining centers, or similar equipment.

• Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend blueprints and GD&T.

• Hands-on experience with Fanuc controls on CNC milling machines.

• Strong knowledge of machining practices for short-run and job shop work, including multiple daily set-ups.

• Skill in working with a variety of materials such as aluminum, stainless steels, engineered plastics, titanium, molybdenum, and Hastelloy.

• Competence using precision measurement tools including micrometers and calipers.

• Experience with tooling selection, machine set-up, and work holding for milling operations.

• Familiarity with vertical mill operation and basic horizontal mill processes.

• Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-part job shop environment.

The role is based in a clean, modern, approximately 90,000-square-foot job shop that operates under ISO 9001 certification. The shop runs multiple different parts each day and supports both production and prototype work, providing exposure to a wide range of components and industries. You will work with Haas, Matsuura, and Makino CNC mills with Fanuc controls, using precision measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers in a well-organized machine shop setting.

The environment is structured yet dynamic, with varied projects, short-run machining, and multi-axis work that keeps the day engaging and technically challenging.

This is a Permanent position based out of Maple Grove, MN.

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $70000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
