Fire Corps Volunteer
The City of Maple Grove is seeking Fire Corps volunteers! Fire Corps volunteers are required to attend monthly meetings and agree to volunteer at least 8 additional hours per month to help with their desired task. Additionally, they will be assigned to various working groups being tasked with items such as; community outreach, public education, training, scene response support, chaplaincy, data entry, community outreach, special event support, etc.

Responsibilities- Strong public speaking skills imperative to success
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization and administrative skills.
- Performs other related duties as apparent or assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Principals and processes for providing exceptional customer service.
- Driver safety.
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Adjust actions in relation to a changing problem(s) and others' actions.
- Actively looking for ways to help others.
- Teaching others how to do something well.
Ability to:
- Manage time effectively.
- Follow verbal and written instructions.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Establish effective working relationships with staff members, other agencies, and the general public.
- Think and act effectively in emergency situations compounded with intense s
- Apply general rules to a specific problem to produce effective answers and solutions
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 18 years or older.
- Have a connection to Maple Grove either by residence, occupation, or service work.
- Have a clean criminal history and satisfactory driving record (confirmed by a background check).
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Any experience suitable to supporting the role of the MGFD Fire Corps Program
- Public safety experience
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions:
Field and office environment; emergency firefighting scenes; travel from site to site; work closely with others.
Physical Conditions:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties require maintaining the physical condition necessary for standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time; manual dexterity; adequate hearing, vision, and speech; required to operate assigned vehicle in routine driving scenarios.
