Position: Store Team Leader - Retail Merchandising - New Store Opening - Maple Grove, MN!

Position Purpose

Drives business results, directs team talent, supports store leadership and ensures delivery of the legendary L.L.Bean customer experience within an outdoor lifestyle concept retail store. Promotes the company’s core values—Outdoor Heritage, Integrity, Service, Respect, Perseverance, and Safe and Healthy Living—to uphold the brand, culture, and mission of L.L.Bean at all times.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute floor sets by translating Trail Guide and floor set directions into compelling merchandise presentations.
  • Analyze reports and use business acumen to make smart decisions that drive sales.
  • Complete and support all visual display and window execution.
  • Work closely with the Operations Productivity team to plan and efficiently process floor sets and replenishment.
  • Execute marketing signage and promotions.
  • Execute markdowns and merchandise recovery.
  • Model and foster an environment where customer service is the top priority.
  • Seek opportunities to convert every customer that enters the store, continually striving to drive sales and brand loyalty through great service.
  • Rally the retail team toward shared objectives.
  • Act as Leader on Duty as scheduled to drive conversion and sales.
  • Leverage business reports (Qualtrics, variance reporting, and merch group sales) to analyze trends, understand wins, and identify opportunities.
  • Build actions that enhance customer loyalty and improve service metrics through introspective business analysis.
  • Execute and implement all recognition programs, including Living the Legend efforts and in‑store contests.
  • Review all forward‑looking business events (holidays, promotional weekends, market trends).
  • Develop meaningful activations and selling efforts to drive greater sales results.
  • Ensure that the sales floor is full and all sizes are represented by performing regular size audits.
  • Ensure the highest level of fitting‑room service to drive conversion and UPT.
  • Support and train associates, communicating standards, processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Share product knowledge to build sales and increase customer loyalty.
  • Deliver GUIDE training for new hires and ongoing GUIDE training for year‑round team members in conjunction with exempt leader teams.
  • Ensure all guides perform at a high level and 30‑day/ongoing assessments are completed.
  • Support, direct, and develop store champions (buddies) and experts.
  • Facilitate all new‑hire product training modules and develop a strategy for delivering seasonal training materials.
  • Maintain and manage employee‑facing communication (break‑room messaging, communication boards).
  • Ensure startup meetings occur and that content is compelling and inspiring.
  • Model inclusive and fair hiring practices.
  • Foster an inclusive work environment by seeking team members’ perspectives, actively listening, and encouraging respectful communication.
  • Value and collaborate respectfully across a variety of differences among team members and customers.
  • Aid in achieving all financial measures and area‑specific metrics.
  • Key‑holder as required, serving as a potential opener/closer for the store.
  • Prepare and communicate daily task responsibilities to staff.
  • Recommend adjustments to staffing levels/schedules to meet work requirements.
  • Address and respond to employee issues and conflicts within defined parameters in accordance with company policies.
  • Provide in‑the‑moment input, feedback, and coaching.
  • Refer performance concerns to store management for performance‑management processes.
  • Contribute to peak‐planning preparation and readiness.
  • Own expense management, ensuring proper use of resources and adherence to budgetary guidelines with a focus on payroll management.
  • Actively participate in health and safety by following all safety policies and procedures, reporting unsafe conditions or at‑risk behaviors, and conducting work safely.
  • Maintain the cash office per policy, ensuring proper signatures, accurate reconciliation, and general organization.
  • Ensure the service hub is fully stocked, free of clutter, and operating effectively.
  • Accountable for cashier execution and efficiency with a focus on service delivery.
