Job Summary

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Operates cash register accurately, scans products, maintains cleanliness, and ensures product quality, quantity, and supply needs across the store and pumps.

District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Manager of Store Operations, Perishables and Health Wellness Home;
Fast & Fresh Department Manager;
Assistant Fast & Fresh Department Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Exhibit caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions and treat customers as the most important people in the store.

  • Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, includes learning customer names when possible.
  • Assists customers by escorting them to desired products, securing out-of-reach items, loading/unloading heavy items, noting and forwarding suggestions or requests, and performing other tasks to enhance shopping experience.
  • Answers telephone promptly and provides friendly service to callers.
  • Operates cash register accurately, scans applicable products, and reports improper cash levels.
  • Redeems promotional coupons, food stamps, processes cash, checks, credit‑card charges, in‑store charges, calculates discounts, counts back change, and issues receipts.
  • Places merchandise in bags or boxes and provides packages to customers.
  • Assists with department inventory, receives and checks delivered merchandise, stores in appropriate area, fills displays, stocks shelves.
  • Maintains lot by shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, hosing down lot.
  • Fills outdoor towel holders, replenishes window washer fluid.
  • Removes trash inside and outside promptly.
  • Performs sanitation and cleaning: registers, restrooms, break room, backroom; sweeps, mops floors.
  • Maintains personal hygiene and dress per guidelines.
  • Follows company and store policies; reports to work on time.
  • Orders merchandise and supplies as needed.
  • Prices products when necessary.
  • Performs other job‑related duties and special projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Practical problem solving with limited standardization.
  • Arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, percentages.
  • File, post, mail materials; copy data between records.
  • Interview to obtain basic information; guide people and provide basic direction.
Education and Experience

No education or experience requirements.

Physical Requirements

Perform medium work: exert up to 50 lbs occasionally; 20 lbs frequently; 10 lbs constantly. Requires visual acuity from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, field of vision. Must perform: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

Frequently exposed to temperature extremes and dampness. Possible equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents. Fast‑paced environment.

  • Telephone, fax, copier, pallet jacks, garbage disposal, trash compactor, cardboard compactor, box cutter, knives.
  • Computer, calculator, frozen juice machine, coffee maker, cash register, RPM, gas pumps.

Compensation

Hourly starting wage: $15.00 to $18.75 depending on experience.

Pre‑Employment Screening
