Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
The Martin Marietta Upper Midwest Region is seeking a skilled and versatile Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at our state-of-the-art Maple Grove Maintenance Facility. In this hands-on role, you'll maintain and repair a diverse fleet of diesel-powered mobile equipment and aggregate and asphalt plant machinery, including loaders, dozers, crushers, conveyors, and more. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues, perform preventative maintenance, complete component rebuilds, and install mechanical systems that keep our operations running safely and efficiently.

This is a full-time position that may require long hours, overtime, and weekend work with an average of 46 hours per week. This job operates 100% of the time in a surface mine setting or shop setting. This role will be based out of the maintenance facility in Maple Grove and will provide support to all Minnesota locations as needed.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
RequiredEducation and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Additional schooling/certifications a plus
- 3-5 years heavy equipment experience
- A valid CDL (Class A or
B) and excellent driving record
- Knowledge of Cat ET/SIS, Volvo Prosis needed
- Experience with Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deer, and Volvo quarry/construction equipment/diesel engine repairs
- Must provide own hand tools

We are excited to share the base salary rate for this position is $29.94 - $48.06. Conditions and terms of employment and benefits are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement for the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 49.
This is a safety-sensitive role and Martin Marietta will continue to require drug testing that does include testing for cannabis/THC.
