Contract Type: Contract, 1st Shift (9/80)

Pay Rate: $61.22/hr

• Must obtain a DoD Secret Personnel Clearance (PCL); U.S. citizenship required.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline plus 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree and 3 years of experience; or Ph.D. and 1 year of experience.
• Strong skills in object‑oriented design and C++ embedded software development.
• Experience with RTOS and/or bare‑metal real‑time application development.
• Practical knowledge of applicable software engineering processes.
• Familiarity with Ethernet communications.
• Contemporary design/development experience.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to conduct effective meetings, discussions, and presentations.
• Understanding of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and Control Account Manager/Work Package Manager duties.
• Current Secret Clearance (preferred).

This position is for a senior software engineer in the Munitions domain, working primarily as an individual contributor (90%) while providing technical leadership (10%).

Responsibilities include:

• Oversee software engineering efforts: estimating, planning, requirements analysis, architecture, design, implementation, unit testing, hardware/software integration, integration testing, simulated fly‑out testing, and range testing.
• Monitor and control execution of software engineering efforts, ensuring corrective actions maintain technical, cost, and schedule performance.
• Support the software verification lead with planning, environment design, and development of verification test scripts and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with Software Quality Assurance, Software Configuration Management audits, Safety Engineering, and software safety requirements.
• Deliver contract deliverables on time with 90%+ first‑pass customer acceptance.
• Coordinate with Business Management System (BMS) procedures and execute process discipline and rigor.
• Oversee Control Account(s) or Work Package(s), provide periodic estimates, and support EVMS reporting.
• Plan software project schedules, builds, and milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR).
• Collaborate on requirements, design, and architecture decisions, ensuring alignment with customer needs.
• Guide the project team in problem solving and conflict resolution across subsystems.
• Engage stakeholders, maintain stakeholder matrix, and communicate risks and opportunities.
• Prepare and present project metrics and technical status at milestone review and IPT meetings.
• Manage internal and external resources and contribute to performance reviews.
• Maintain and enhance BAE Systems’ technical reputation with customers and industry.
• Coordinate cybersecurity efforts within the software domain.

• Practical experience with software management and engineering development processes.
• Familiarity with CMMI and BAE Systems Life Cycle Management.
• Cybersecurity domain knowledge:
  Risk Management Framework, Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements.
• Cybersecurity certification (preferred).
• Weapon system and/or combat vehicle subject matter expertise.
