Position

Purpose:

Food and food‑service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our drivers not only ensure the customers’ products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition but also serve as the face of our company—building lasting relationships with our customers. The CDL‑A driver is responsible for operating a tractor‑trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, OTR, shuttle, and overnight/drip‑drop routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and food‑related products to customers safely and timely, in accordance with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).

Drivers communicate and interact professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers, answering questions accurately and promptly, and support the team as required, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities May Include, but Not Limited To:

  • Perform all required safety checks (pre/post‑trip) and inspections of tractor/truck and trailer per DOT regulations; report any safety issues and necessary repairs.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe‑driving guidelines and policies.
  • Immediately report all safety hazards; inspect trailer for proper loading and secure freight.
  • Verify counts of items and check customer invoices for loaded products; accurately complete required paperwork.
  • Move tractor to the loading dock and attach pre‑loaded trailer as needed.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route schedule; unload products from the trailer and transport items to designated storage areas.
  • Perform damage‑control checks, scan items, and inform the supervisor of any returns or removals per company policy; verify delivery, obtain signatures, and collect money where required.
  • Load customer returns onto the trailer, secure the doors, and ensure all freight is locked and secured.
  • Unload damaged goods, customer returns, and bring them to the driver check‑in; complete necessary paperwork.
  • Unload all equipment, materials, and remove trash from the trailer as required.
  • Record hours of service daily and enter the log per Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clean; secure all equipment and complete any paperwork at shift’s end.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 6+ or 12+ months of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid CDL‑A; must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
  • Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Pass road test.
  • Maintain or obtain a valid DOT Health Card.
  • Be able to hand‑lift and use two‑wheelers, lift gates, or other equipment to move and stack product cases/freight ranging from about 10–35 lb to 60–90 lb across the shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of food‑service distribution industry experience.
  • Experience with onboard computer and electronic log systems (e.g., People Net).
  • Experience with hand‑held point‑of‑delivery scanning systems (e.g., POD).
  • Customer‑service related work experience.
