Job Description

A well‑established, privately owned, mid‑sized public accounting and advisory firm is seeking an Senior Audit & Assurance Accountant
to join its growing team. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced audit professional who enjoys leading engagements, developing junior team members, building trusted client relationships, and working in a collaborative environment that values professional growth and work‑life balance.

About the Role

The Senior Audit & Assurance Accountant will lead financial statement engagements from planning through completion while providing guidance to associates and delivering thoughtful, accurate work to clients across multiple industries. The ideal candidate is a licensed CPA or is actively progressing toward licensure, understands each phase of the audit process, and can manage assignments independently with limited supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead audit engagements from initial planning through final completion.
  • Lead compilation, review, and financial statement preparation engagements through completion.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train associates, including reviewing work and providing constructive guidance.
  • Perform risk assessments and develop audit programs aligned with client needs.
  • Analyze and interpret financial statements and supporting documentation.
  • Research complex accounting matters and document well‑supported conclusions.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS, and internal quality standards.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering responsive, high‑quality service.
  • Coordinate with internal resource management to keep engagement scheduling and staffing on track.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets for assurance engagements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or a related field.
  • CPA license or active progress toward licensure, with one or more exam sections passed.
  • Three to five years of public accounting experience, primarily focused on audit and assurance.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, and GAGAS, including nonprofit and Yellow Book engagements.
  • Proficiency with audit software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience serving clients in one or more of the following industries: manufacturing, nonprofit, charter schools, construction, or professional services.
  • Familiarity with tax provisions and financial reporting disclosures.
  • Working knowledge of data analytics tools.
