Wastewater Treatment Operator (Trainee)

We are seeking a new Jersey Certified wastewater operator or an entry‑level candidate who wants to build a career in wastewater treatment. The role involves daily operations and maintenance of the Maple Shade, NJ Water and Wastewater Utility, including treatment plants and distribution systems.
ScheduleWeekdays day shift; possible one weekend day per week. Required participation in on‑call rotation on weekends, holidays, and outside normal shift hours.
Qualifications- High School or trade school diploma.
- 2+ years of experience in a water and/or wastewater treatment facility operation and maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- New Jersey S2, C2, T2, or W2 license preferred; entry‑level candidates considered.
- Valid New Jersey CDL with tanker endorsement, or ability to obtain within one year.
- Knowledge of operational principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools used in water and wastewater treatment.
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions involved.
- Computer skills for water quality sample data and maintenance record keeping.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply instructions, drawings, and specifications.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Strong oral and written communication.
- Will complete DOT background check, pre‑placement physical, and drug screen before employment.
