Job Summary:

Full‑time faculty members are professional educators whose primary responsibility is instruction and management of assigned classes. Responsibilities also include fulfilling MCC’s mission, vision, values, strategic plan, and the Board of Trustees’ charges, and supporting a quality education for all students.

Essential Functions
  • Serve as the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Site Coordinator for the MCC Accounting program.
  • Deliver effective instruction—provide quality instruction reflective of current discipline standards, accurate, relevant, and engaging, using MCC‑approved curriculum and resources.
  • Assess student learning, including ongoing formative assessments and official departmental assessment.
  • Manage classes and learning environments—foster a positive classroom‑learning environment, inclusive to all learners, ensuring accessibility.
  • Promote continual improvement as part of the teaching and learning cycle.
  • Support learning through student engagement, incorporating pedagogical strategies such as active learning, authentic and problem‑based activities, and other successful teaching strategies into classroom instruction.
  • Provide student guidance—help students develop academic habits for college success.
  • Pursue professional development by staying current in the academic field.
  • Actively participate collegially in department, campus, cross‑college, discipline‑specific, district, and community service activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to provide a high‑quality learning experience for students, including participation in commencement and attending college functions.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Accounting.
  • OR Master's degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate course hours (GCH) in the qualifying fields of Accounting or Taxation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of teaching experience using interactive teaching techniques.
  • Experience using assessment techniques to promote teaching and learning excellence.
  • Demonstrated experience with current pedagogical and instructional methods.
  • Demonstrated experience with utilizing a variety of classroom technologies, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all constituencies of a diverse community.
  • Demonstrated interest in and passion for teaching community college students.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require meeting general physical demands such as feeling, grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is sedentary and may require exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
