Positions AvailableWe are hiring for one on‑career service position and three Term Limited Temporary (TLT)/Special Duty Assignment (SDA) positions, each expected to last approximately six months, with the possibility of extension.
About the RoleThese positions involve safely hauling refuse material from transfer stations to the Cedar Hills Regional Landfill in Maple Valley and completing associated tasks. Transfer stations can be viewed at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
What You Will Be Doing- Safely operate a variety of commercial vehicles, including trucks and trailers, trucks equipped with water storage tanks and pumps, dump trucks with pony trailers, fuel tanker trucks, side dumps, and lowboy trailers.
- Hook and unhook hydraulic hoses to specific trailers.
- Drive in a variety of unique situations and weather conditions, safely installing tire chains when required.
- Load and transport solid waste, trailers, equipment, gravel, water, fuel, and other materials to work areas throughout King County.
- Perform and document safety inspections of tractors and trailers.
- Check and refill fluid levels and tire pressure; refuel and maintain vehicle in a clean and operational condition.
- Document trip activities and complete required trip reports.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience safely driving tractor/trailer combinations such as Class A tractor/trailer with >= three axles and a gross vehicle weight of up to 17,000 pounds per axle.

- Possession of a valid Washington State Driver's License.
- Possession of a valid Washington State Class A Commercial Driver's License with current Washington State Department of Transportation Medical Card and Air Brake Endorsement.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience driving combinations such as side dump trailer, 12–14 yard pony trailer, 6,000–7,000 gallon wastewater tanker, 3,000–4,000 gallon fuel truck, or lowboy trailer for equipment transport.

Positions are FLSA‑eligible and overtime‑eligible. Possible schedules include 4/10 with one day off between Monday and Friday, 5/8 Monday through Friday, or 7/10 with one week on and one week off. - Union Representation

Term‑Limited Temporary position, anticipated duration six months; eligible King County employees may receive the position as a special duty assignment.
- Ability to get in and out of a Class A tractor multiple times a day.
