Overview

Our client, a global leader in the manufacturing and supply chain industry, is seeking a Procurement Category Specialist to join their team, working a hybrid schedule, in Maplewood, MN
. As a Procurement Category Specialist, you will be part of the Supply Chain Management department supporting strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong negotiation skills, proactive problem-solving, and excellent communication abilities, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Procurement Category Specialist

Location: Maplewood, MN 55119 (Hybrid schedule: 4 days onsite, Monday to Friday, normal business hours)

Pay Range: $40-45/HR + Benefits

Contract Duration: 12-Months W2 Contract, potential to extend and/or hire on permanently

Job Function:

• Create and execute best-in-class supply chain strategies for the Converting & Pack Out Services category across the Americas to drive supplier consolidation, reduce risk, and improve service levels.
• Develop and implement category strategies aligned with procurement cost, cash, and growth objectives.
• Build and nurture strong partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders including Manufacturing, R&D, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain Operations.
• Lead supplier selection processes, negotiations, and manage complex supplier relationships, including NPI launches and external sourcing.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements that enhance service, speed, or cost efficiency through data analysis and stakeholder engagement.

• Minimum of five years of experience in Sourcing, Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Manufacturing within private, public, government, or military environments.
• Strong negotiation and contracting skills with a proven track record of managing complex supply relationships.
• Experience working with third-party manufacturing or similar supply chain functions.
• Excellent project management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution, verified prior to start date.
