Hill-Murray School is seeking a full-time High School Counselor to join our team. The High School Counselor supports students in grades 9-12 in their academic, social-emotional, and personal development, while also partnering with the Director of College Counseling to support students and families in post-secondary planning.

Rooted in our Catholic, Benedictine, and Lasallian mission, Hill-Murray is committed to educating the whole person. The High School Counselor collaborates with students, families, faculty, staff, administration, the Director of College Counseling, and external professionals to support student growth, well-being, and success. This position reports to the Principal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling to support students’ academic, personal, and social-emotional needs.
  • Build strong relationships with students and serve as a trusted advocate and resource.
  • Monitor student academic progress and partner with students, families, and teachers to create plans for success.
  • Support students through course selection, schedule planning, academic goal setting, and graduation requirements.
  • Work in partnership with the Director of College Counseling to support students and families in college and career readiness, post-secondary exploration, and transition planning.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, the Nicholas Center, the Director of College Counseling, campus ministry, and other student support personnel to provide coordinated care for students.
  • Participate in student support meetings and contribute to intervention planning.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and support plans.
  • Provide crisis response and intervention as needed, in partnership with school leadership and outside professionals.
  • Support programming related to student wellness, belonging, decision-making, healthy relationships, and life skills.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and confidentiality in accordance with professional and school standards.
  • Contribute to a positive, mission-centered school culture where every student is known by name and supported with care.
