As a Senior Laboratory Director, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Leading the Display and Electronics total global adhesives R&D platform with responsibility for all adhesives‑based platforms, technologies and products (OCA, PSA, e‑Bonding, Conductive Adhesives, Structural Adhesives, etc.) within the Display and Electronics Product Platform (DEPP) laboratory.
  • Developing, coaching and providing direction for multiple work groups with accountability for leading more complex projects and portfolio outcomes.
  • Identifying, prioritizing, initiating and planning technical programs for multiple work groups with responsibility for the technical outcome of the portfolio.
  • Originating and championing primary recommendations for major laboratory programs and priorities, working to leverage adhesives‑related resources across 3M and within the DEPP laboratory for maximum impact.
  • Partnering with the relevant TEBG Vertical teams to bring customer needs into the development pipeline and then executing on those NPI opportunities.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, chemistry, biology, statistics, mathematics, IT/management information systems, mechanical engineering or engineering science.
  • Five (5) years of laboratory leadership in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Fifteen (15) or more years of significant contributions history to a laboratory organization through management of resources on major impact programs, leading people and projects, delivering results and inspiring team members.
  • Strong background in electronics/displays technologies and related industries; strong technical credibility within the 3M technical community; long‑range vision and breadth of technical and business understanding; extensive network amongst senior lab management and senior technical personnel across 3M.
  • Skills include customer key account model, cross‑functional engagement, passion for solving customer problems with 3M solutions, all with an optimistic and pragmatic approach.

Work location

  • This role follows an on‑site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.

Travel

May include up to 15% domestic/international travel.

Compensation & Benefits

Applicable to U.S. applicants only. The expected compensation range for this position is $287,281–$351,122, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. The range represents a good faith estimate. In addition, this position may be eligible for benefits including medical, dental & vision, health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, disability benefits, life insurance, voluntary benefits, paid absences and retirement benefits.
