As an Advanced Research Engineer – Ceramics Focus, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Operating as a critical member of a multidisciplinary technology development team
- Identifying and developing new ceramic applications through process development and experimentation
- Driving the implementation of new ceramic technologies into existing and future product lines
- Documenting, communicating, and disseminating research results to team members, business partners, and global stakeholders
- Driving successful technology scale‑up from laboratory scale to full manufacturing
- Troubleshooting manufacturing process disruptions and product quality issue
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, chemistry, or a material science discipline (completed and verified prior to start)
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) in engineering, chemistry, or material science from an accredited university
- 2+ years of academic or industrial experience in ceramic processing, including forming and sintering techniques in a private, public, government or military environment
- Direct experience with fabrication and synthesis processes for ceramics
- Proven track record using Design of Experiments (DOE) to solve complex technical problems
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex data for multidisciplinary teams
- Highly inquisitive mindset with a demonstrated ability to collaborate in a fast‑paced, technical environment.

BenefitsThe expected compensation range for this position is $98,964 - $120,957, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
