Position: EHS Specialist I

Our client, a leading organization in research and development, is seeking an EHSSpecialist I to join their team. As an EHSSpecialist I, you will be part of the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) department supporting the R&D community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proactive communication, strong organizational skills, and a passion for safety and environmental stewardship, which will align successfully in the organization.

Location: Maplewood, Minnesota
Duration: 12 months (potential to extend)
Pay Range: $18-$22/hr

What's the Job?
  • Serve as the division EHS contact for assigned divisions within the R&D community, including labs, pilot plants, and remote support to Austin, TX.
  • Lead EHS risk assessments and escalated issues to subject matter experts as needed to ensure safety compliance.
  • Coordinate hazardous waste management activities, including updating waste stream profiles, planning lab clean-out days, and providing guidance on waste types.
  • Conduct exposure assessments and evaluate personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements to safeguard team members.
  • Participate in routine EHS inspections, incident investigations, and track EHS activities such as action items and approvals to maintain compliance and continuous improvement.
What's Needed?
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in EHS, technical, science, or engineering disciplines.
  • Experience or interest in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) practices, ideally within an R&D setting.
  • Ability to learn and apply risk assessment processes and utilize relevant database/tools.
  • Strong understanding of R&D processes and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills.
